Long Bio

Bobby Lane is a Brooklyn based trumpet player and producer who merges the creative tenacity of jazz improvisation with an expansive sonic palette drawn from avant-pop, hip-hop, and indie rock. His debut solo EP, Inertia Gets You Every Time, is a collection of six songs for trumpet and electronics centered on the personal costs of remaining in motion. It will be released in Spring 2026.

Lane has performed alongside a diverse array of artists including funk-pop group Ripe, punk icons Gorilla Biscuits, and indie rock band Peaceful Faces, as well as with Brooklyn jazz mainstays Frank Carlberg and John Cushing. He has appeared at iconic New York City venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, the 55 Bar, Brooklyn Bowl, and Gramercy Theater. 

He is also an in-demand producer, with recent credits including Amanda Ekery’s Grammy nominated album Árabe, as well as upcoming records by Nathan Reising, Monica Pabelonio, and pop artist Adelide. 

Lane holds a Masters of Music in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory and a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
